The clearing of the property for the new Post Home was completed in October 1949. By the end of November of that year the trees, brush, and logs were cleaned out of the area. A blueprint was made of the property in March 1950. During 1950 and 1951 fund raisers were conducted to add to the Building fund. These included picnics, dances, and raffles. On April 22, 1952, the footings for the building were started by 16 Legion volunteers. By May 06, 1952, 2/3 of the footings were completed. Between May 1952 and November 1954, construction of the Post home continued. It was erected with a flat roof to support a second story, which never materialized. The toilets and lights were installed in June 1953. Also, showers were included for the members to use as many of them worked for the local mines and cleaned up before comming to legion events and activities. The heating system was installed in November 1954. Finally completed, on Sunday, December 05, 1954, at 2:00 PM, the GRAND OPRNING OF THE NEW LEGION HOME was celebrated with a party.
