
Pony Express Post 359 member Lloyd Pasley was given a special award at an event held at the Post Headquarters in Saint Joseph, Missouri on September 13, 2017.
Legionnaire Pasley was honored for his service as part of the funeral details of both Pony Express Post 359 and the Marine Corps League. Since 1994, he has either played Taps, folded the flag, or performed as part of the rifle squad firing the final salute at the graveside ceremony of 1,000 veterans.
Legionnaire Pasley is a 37-year veteran of the Saint Joseph Police Department and retired in 1994 as interim Chief of Police.
He is also a Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Korean War and seeing action in major conflicts at the Pusan Perimeter, the Inchon Invasion, Sol and the Chosin Reservoir before being returned to the United States. He also is an "atomic veteran" having taken part in an atomic bomb test in 1952.
