Post 287 developed a Flag Etiquette program with the help of the 40 & 8 Group. The program was first given to the Pack 60 Cub Scouts. The scouts enjoyed it so much, they wanted the program also given to the Troop 60 Boy Scouts. On this night, instead of teaching the scouts flag folding, the Boy Scouts requested a Flag Retirement Ceremony. The program consisted of an Introduction to Flag Etiquette with a PowerPoint presentation. Then the 40 & 8 did a discussion on some facts about the Flag and did a Question & Answer Session. Next The American Legion "For Which It Stands" DVD was shown. Following the DVD The American Legion Flag Ceremony was performed with the Scouts involved as the Flag Retirement Detail. Finally the flags were retired, and the Scouts received a Flag Etiquette Certificate.
