A local veteran, who wishes to remain anonymous, went to the Andrew County Commissioners at the beginning of 2017 and wanted to sponsor a monument to honor the area First Responders and military veterans. Thru several meetings and seeing a similar monument in another city, an 8-foot black marble monument was ordered. The Commissioners then had regular meetings with The American Legion Post 287 to come up with an appropriate date ceremony to dedicate the monument. It was decided to dedicate the monument after the annual American Legion Memorial Day Ceremony. The monument arrived at the beginning of May 2017. The following pictures show the installation of the monument at the beginning of May 2017.
