o Commander Stan Aspey called Post 287 to order at 1900 hours. Legionnaire Jerry Fischer gave the opening prayer. The POW-MIA Resolution 288 was read followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the recital of the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion. The meeting was declared regularly convened. A quorum was established with 12 members present.

o Guest Comments from Legionnaire Haper:
 “Missouri Leadership Course”- this is a version of The American Legion Extension Institute Off-line Course offered by the Department. Post 287 was asked to host a course sometime between January and March.
 4th District Oratorical Contest- Post 287 was requested to sponsor this contest. The event is tentatively scheduled for January 11th. The event is held on a Sunday, so as not to conflict with other High School scheduled events.
 50th Anniversary Commemorative Recognition of the Vietnam War will be held in Maryville at Post 100 this Saturday.
o New Business:
 Building Security- there were 2 recent incidents of the building doors either being left unlocked or opened. A motion was made to change the front door lock and keys. Motion carried.
 Acronyms- Legionnaire Harper stated the Legion is going to start using “TAL,” abbreviation for “The American Legion.”
o Commander Aspey adjourned the meeting at 2000 hours. Legionnaire Fischer gave the closing prayer. The next meeting will be November 19th, at 1900 hours.

 Leavenworth Christmas Shop update and request for volunteers
 Missouri In-state Legacy Scholarship Ride- this will be 3-day event around the state
 “Thank You Veterans” flag received and will be hung within the main room
o Squadron 287 Sons of the American Legion (Senior Vice Commander Brock)
 Membership at 39 (received 2 new members tonight, Stan Aspey and Wayne Karr)
 Looking at doing a Fish Fry the end of March or first of April. Plans ongoing.

The POW-MIA Resolution 288 was read followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the recital of the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion. The meeting was declared regularly convened. A quorum was present.

 4th District Meeting on December 14th will be hosted by Post 287 at 1330 hours.

 Leavenworth Christmas Shop had 9 volunteers from the post attend the event.
 December breakfast had 149 guests
 Missouri Legacy Run will be June 26-28, 2015. This will be 1,000 mile ride over a 3-day period covering the 4 corners of Missouri. Everyone is welcomed to sign-up motorcycle or not.
o Squadron 287 Sons of the American Legion (Commander Mike Walter)
 2014 volunteer activity to date: 962 hours and 4,009 miles
 Josh Dogs project- a motion was made, seconded, and approved to buy 10 booklets and get the stuffed animals locally.
 Membership Recruiting-
• Will lose up to 7 members as they transfer to the newly formed Squadron 464
• Current membership is 39. The squadron will need to bolster and exceed our current membership ranks.
 A $300 gift card donation will be made to the Andrew Counties Ministries. The donation will be used to sponsor a family for Christmas.
o Valentine’s Dinner will fall on the same Saturday as the monthly pancake breakfast. Debbie and Tim will spearhead the Valentine’s Dinner. The regular breakfast crew will be needed for the morning event.
o Veteran’s Benefit Fair will be April 25th in Tarkio. Post 287 has been asked to provide volunteers. Squadron 287 will help the newly chartered Squadron 199 with the lunch food booth as a fundraiser for both squadrons.
