o Annual Membership Night Fish Fry, Installation of Officers and Regular Meeting
o Commander Barb Ebersole called Post 287 to order at 1900 hours. Commander Ebersole recognized last year’s officers and volunteers with Letters of Appreciation. Past Department Commander Marvin Harper then installed officers to the Post, Legion Riders and Sons of the American Legion.
o Newly installed Commander Stan Aspey resumed the regular meeting. A quorum was established with 10 members present. Chaplain Stubblefield gave the opening prayer. The POW-MIA Resolution 288 was read followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the recital of the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion.

o New Business:
 Annual Membership Fry- SAL Mark Brock reported 120 people attended tonight’s dinner. Cost for the fish alone was $460. The Post will have to consider raising the suggested donation price for future dinner events due to rising costs. Grocery prices have doubled. Legionnaires Jerry Kretzer and Stan Stubblefield made personal donations to help off-set the expenses for the groceries and the new gas fryer.
 Savannah Homecoming Parade will be 17 October.
 Missouri Boys State Thank You letters for our sponsorships to the program.
o Commander Aspey adjourned the meeting at 2000 hours. Chaplain Stubblefield gave the closing prayer. The next meeting will be September 17th, at 1900 hours.

• October 1, 2014
o Commander Stan Aspey called Post 287 to order at 1900 hours. Chaplain Stubblefield gave the opening prayer. The POW-MIA Resolution 288 was read followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the recital of the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion. The meeting was declared regularly convened. A quorum was established with 9 members present.
o New Business:
 Legionnaire Williams clarified the newspaper misprint of the pool table being donated to the Andrew County Senior Center by the “American Legion Riders.” The table was donated by Post 287 collectively.
 Debbie and Tim Williams have researched buying new tables and chairs for the Post. Their recommendation was to use the proceeds from a Legion breakfast. The older tables and chairs will be donated to local organizations.
 Andrew Count Ministries Back-Pack Buddies Program:
• Cost to sponsor one student for a year = $150.
• Commander Aspey shared an article from the Saint Joseph News Press that there were 620 homeless students in Saint Joseph. The Savannah R-III School District is having a rising number of students who need help as well.
• After discussion, the Post will try to raise funds by seeking donations from the people attending the monthly breakfasts’.
• A motion was made for Post 287 to sponsor 2 students. The motion carried. Legionnaire Jerry Kretzer and Legionnaire Stan Stubblefield donated additional money to sponsor a third student.
o When a Legion meeting is in session, do not break the hollow ground between the American & Legion flags. Enter on the side of the Legion Family flags after rendering a salute to the Colors.
o Commander Aspey adjourned the meeting at 2045 hours. Chaplain Stubblefield gave the closing prayer. The next meeting will be October 15th, at 1900 hours.

 October 15, 2014
o 1st Vice Commander Barb Ebersole called Post 287 to order at 1900 hours. Adjutant Beasley gave the opening prayer. The POW-MIA Resolution 288 was read followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the recital of the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion. The meeting was declared regularly convened. A quorum was established with 11 members present.
o Guests Present: Pam Thompson & Gail from Crossroads Hospice
o SAL Commander Mike Walter recognized Past Post Commander Barb Ebersole with a Certificate of Appreciation for her support of Squadron 287 over these last few years.
o Past Squadron Commander Mark Brock has been submitted for the SAL Member of the Year.
o American Legion Riders: many of the riders are doing a Fall Ride in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas.
o Past Chapter Director Timmy Williams has been submitted for the American Legion Rider of the Year.
o New Business:
 Plans being made for Veteran’ Day Events:
• November 2nd at 2 p.m.: First Christian Church Patriotic Program. SAL White shirt uniform or Legion Blue Shirt/Yellow tie. Post the colors at the beginning of the program, and retrieve the colors at the end.
• November 6th will be the Andrew County Senior Center Veteran’s Day Recognition Luncheon: POW-MIA Ceremony, Flag Folding, and Taps
• Crossroads Hospice is sponsoring several Veteran’s Day events at the Patterson Senior Center and several Saint Joseph nursing home facilities. Pam and Gail invited Post 287 to participate in the ceremonies with the posting of the colors and a flag folding ceremony.
o November 5th at 1 p.m.: Joyce Raye Patterson Senior Center
o November 6th at 10 a.m.: Diversicare of Saint Joseph (formerly the Saxton’s Nursing Home on 3002 North 18th Street
o November 7th at 10 a.m.: LaVerna Village of Saint Joseph

o November 10th at 3 p.m. at Carriage Square
• November 10th Veteran’s Dinner hosted by the Auxiliary starting at 6 p.m.
• November 11th LaVerna Village in Savannah
• November 11th Veteran’s Day Parade in Saint Joseph-
• Schools: waiting to hear from the area schools and their plans for assembly programs.
 Legionnaire Stackhouse updated the membership on the Boy Scout activities:
• Post 287 was given a certificate of appreciation for the chartering support of 80 years.
• Next Court of Honor will be December 9th
• Cub Scouts gutter regatta will be held at Post 287 on November 15th
• The Scouts of all the age groups are doing activities together to promote a natural progression through the many scouting levels and opportunities.
 Collision Repair will have the vehicle give-away for a veteran in need. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to donate $50 for the vehicles registration.
 Thank you letter for putting out the flags for the 1st Annual Brad Arn 5k Memorial Run.
