o Regular Meeting- Commander Barb Ebersole called Post 287 to order with 13 members present. Chaplain Stan Stubblefield gave the opening prayer.
o Guest Speakers: Ducks n Bucks Charity Dinner event
 Date/Time: Friday, November 22nd at 6:30 p.m.
 Place: Clasby Center
 This is their 4th annual event. The event is being moved from Saint Joseph to Savannah
 Post 287 has been invited to provide the opening color guard activities.
 Nine Purple Heart veterans will be coming to this area for hunting experiences with local volunteers. This dinner, charity event is to raise funds in support of them.
 Cost of the dinner event is a $20 donation, and there will be fundraising raffles.

o Homecoming Parades:
 North Andrew- Friday, October 4th. Be at Fillmore by 1:30 p.m. Start at 2 p.m.
 Savannah- Friday, October 11th.
o Legionnaire Kenneth Diggs is scheduled to go on an Honor Flight to D.C. Hopefully there will be no further disruptions from the Government Shut-down
o 1st Vice Commander Aspey shared with the membership, the Veteran’s Administration will soon only be providing “essential” medical care as the budget crisis drags on. If you are in need of any “non-essential” medical care it is recommended to get it done within the next 30 days.

o American Legion Riders (ALR):
 School Supplies delivered with a “thank you” note from Avenue City already
 Charity Drives ongoing: Leavenworth Christmas Gift Shop, and Cameron Veterans Home Clothing/Blanket Drive
 Next Legion Breakfast will be November 9th.
o Sons of the American Legion (SAL)-
 Hot Beef Sandwich Dinner on Nov. 20th from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
 Boys State “thank you’s” received
o 4th District Third Vice Commander resolution, attachment 4. Resolution briefed the membership. The issue will be voted on at the December District meeting.
o Veteran’s Day Activities:
 Auxiliary Veteran’s Dinner will be November 11th from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Program to include Flag Folding Demonstration (Madison Rising version).
 Andrew County Senior Center- Veterans Luncheon will be Thursday, November 7 at 11 a.m. Will have: flag folding ceremony- traditional version, POW-MIA ceremony & Taps
 Nursing Home Visitations- (pending contact)
 School Assembly Programs:
• Savannah Middle School- Flag folding ceremony– post the colors, pledge of allegiance, flag folding (modern version), and proper flag folding demonstration
• Other schools (pending contact)
o Legionnaire Kenneth Diggs returned from the one-day Honor Flight to D.C. trip. He praised the program highly and had a great time. Ed Weber has been approved to go to D.C. on Veterans Day.
