November 2, 2011 (Cmdr Barb Ebersole and Adj. Terry Beasley) --- National Commander Fang A. Wong Visit- ongoing planning: Donations are being asked for to defer some of the costs. Post 359 Auxiliary is helping to offset some of the expenses. Mayor Dave Ingersoll will have a Proclamation. An ad has been placed in the Savannah Report. 3 tables will be up front for the distinguished guest dining area. The Savannah Reported had a nice front-page story about the upcoming visit. The Savannah Reporter and Saint Joseph News Press will cover the event. --- Commander Ebersole gave a $100 donation to Ronnie Bishop. The money was used to help cover the costs to have her son Carter visit his injured father in Texas. His father was injured, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. --- “In God We Trust” motto has been approved by the House. --- It was brought up at a Department function, that Missouri is the only state that has the entering the head table from the Legion flag side, not the American flag side. ***

November 16, 2011 (Cmdr Barb Ebersole and Adj. Terry Beasley) --- National Commander Fang A. Wong Visit completed. The National & Department delegations were impressed, high accolades received. ALR greeted the group at the door. They were briefed on SAL being formed. They were also made aware of the Parade Convention rings. Great food. Commander Ebersole will make DVD copies of the National Commander’s visit for anyone requesting them. --- Flag disposal was carried out by Legionnaire’s Stubblefield and Beasley. --- Prior to the National Commander’s Visit at Post 287, Legionnaires Stan Stubblefield and Terry Beasley Meet Commander Wong at a Dinner Hosted by Tri-C Memorial Post 464 in Conception Junction ***

December 7, 2011 (Cmdr Barb Ebersole and Adj. Terry Beasley) --- Commander Ebersole led a moment of silence in the memory of our departed Comrade Jameson, and for the Pearl Harbor victims. She also noted the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association was disbanding after this year due to the aging and decreasing number of its membership. --- Sons of the American Legion (SAL)- report by Mark Brock: Chili dinner had a good turn-out of over 60 people. They presented a check to the Legion for $100.00. Charter paperwork has been forwarded with some updates. Membership is at 19. SAL Brock asked the members to start collecting items for next year’s Christmas donations to the Cameron Veteran’s Home. He is starting a Secret Santa program for them. They especially need items of warmth such as blankets, lap quilts, scarves, sweaters, robes, etc. --- Amazonia Boys Scout Troop 219 sponsorship by Post 287. -- Commander Ebersole would also like to start collections throughout the year for the VA as well. ***

December 21, 2011 (Cmdr Barb Ebersole and Adj. Terry Beasley) --- American Legion Riders (ALR) - report by Tim Williams: Toys for Tots donations delivered to the Marines. 1st breakfast had an attendance of 114. Next breakfast will be January 14th. There will be some small changes to the menu. --- Scout Master Mik Chester briefed the membership on Troop 60 activities and accomplishments. Troop 60 is well supported and very active. Troop 60 continues a tradition of having a high rate of advancements: 57 rank advancements, 8 Eagle Scouts, and 262 merit badges. They have 61 registered members with 58 adults. 30-40 community activities consistently. 33 to Camp Geiger. 6 new braves tapped in to the Mic-O-Says. Raised $14,800 in popcorn sales this year. --- Legionnaire Adkins complimented the Auxiliary for their extraordinary efforts providing a nice Christmas for the Cameron VA Nursing home veterans. Commander Ebersole summed up so of the many key 2011 Post 287 accomplishments. She is greatly appreciative of everyone’s help! ***
