Donald Dillman) --- Guests Present: Marvin Harper, Past Department Commander and Marlin Slagle, 4th District Commander. --- Induction of Officers: Induction Officer Legionnaire Marvin Harper and Sergeant-at-Arms Legionnaire Marlin Slagle. --- Prior to the Ceremony Legionnaire Dillman was nominated and elected to the Post Adjutant position. --- Executive Committee: Terry Beasley, Brian Stackhouse, Ray Maxwell, Lori Burns, Wilton Adkins, John B. Miller, and Stan Stubblefield. --- Legionnaire Ray Maxwell was awarded the Legionnaire of the Year Award for 2008. --- Legionnaire Stubblefield just returned from the National Convention. He once again carried the Department of Missouri banner. The Department Sergeant-at-Arms carried the Post 287 Colors in the National Convention Parade. ***

November 5, 2008 (Cmdr. Terry Beasley and Adj. Donald Dillman) --- Steak Fry was held before the meeting. Guest speaker was Mr. John Brown a veteran’s representative from Kansas City. --- Mr. Keith Miller of Northwest Insurance was present and gave a review of the Legion’s insurance coverage’s. The building coverage is $193,800.00, the contents $24,300.00, and liability for activities other than legion-related is at$1,000,000.00, other miscellaneous coverage includes sewer backup, stolen monies, and lock replacement. Insurance premium is $1,049.00. --- Monday, November 10th the Auxiliary will have a Veteran’s Day Pot Luck dinner. --- Donated gifts are still needed for the Leavenworth Veteran’s Home. --- Veteran’s Day Activities, Tuesday, November 11th: 0630 Put flags out at Courthouse and Cemetery; 0800- Savannah Middle School; 1000- LaVerna Village; 1200- POW/MIA Ceremony at Andrew County Senior Center; and at 1300- Veteran’s Day Parade in Saint Joseph. --- Post 287 received 4th place for the 2008 Americanism Award in Zone 2 for volunteer hours ***

November 19, 2008 (Cmdr. Terry Beasley and Adj. Donald Dillman) --- A thank you was received from Helena Elementary School --- Legionnaires Stan Stubblefield and John McLarney were presented with an award for voluntary service from R.S.V.P. ***

December17, 2008 (Cmdr. Terry Beasley and Adj. Donald Dillman) --- Pancake Breakfast- Legionnaire Curnutt has 4 new aprons on order for the newest volunteer inductees: Lori Burns, Jim Jones, Don Dillman, and Richard Bennett. --- 2nd Vice Commander Lori Burns has collected $1,600.00 to date for “Operation Comfort Warrior.” Legionnaire Burns is also collecting for the Andrew County Food Bank. --- Ray Maxwell was selected as the District’s Legionnaire of the Year. --- Post 287 was awarded the 2007-2008 Americanism Citation. --- Legionnaire Curnutt is making arrangements for the District Oratorical contest. --- Legionnaire Curnutt is having a meeting to form a District American Legion Riders Chapter. ***
