January 21, 2004 (Cmdr. Norm Brosi and Adj. Terry Beasley) --- WWII Memorial Dedication (May 29th): Billy Kretzer reported for the committee. Savannah Reporter is preparing an article. The article will included: WWII Memorial Dedication Event itself. Pancake Breakfast, WWII Medal Applications, and Korean Medal Applications. Minister Jim Arnold was asked to offer prayer at the event. --- Oratorical Contest- John McLarney stated that Andrew County contestant Paul Reddy won the District level event, and will represent us at the zone on February 7th. Mr. Reddy won both this year and last year. The post has committed to donating $100.00 to the County student winner and $50.00 to his teacher. We are obligated to Mr. Reddy for $200.00 and Mr. Pittman for $100.00. --- Commander Brosi recognized and thanked the following Legionnaires for helping with the 4th District Oratorical Contest. Members included: John McLarney (event organizer), James Treu (judge), Event Workers: Stan Stubblefield, Craig Curnutt, Mannuel Paxton, and Bob Dunn. ***

February 4, 2004 (Cmdr. Norm Brosi and Adj. Terry Beasley) --- “Valentine Dinner - Night Out:” Bob Dunn updated the membership on the planned event. RSVP’s are at 105. Bob Dunn, Craig Curnutt, Mannuel Paxton, and Stan Stubblefield are planning on decorating the Legion Hall and obtaining more tables prior to the event. The event will be February 13th, starting at 1830 hours. The event will start with the POW/MIA ceremony, and Jim Arnold offered to provide the additional entertainment. Bob Dunn motioned to have the additional entertainment, and it was seconded by John Miller. The motion carried. ***

March 3, 2004 (Cmdr. Norm Brosi and Adj. Terry Beasley) --- Brian Stackhouse informed the group that he is the Boy Scout Institutional Representative. --- Brian Stackhouse requested to reserve the Post facilities for the next Code of Honor. The event will be March 9th. --- Commander Brosi reminded the membership that the Legion Birthday Dinner will be March 8th, hosted by the Auxiliary. --- John Miller continues to work on the World War II certificates. He currently has 17 submissions. Commander Brosi suggested doing a certificate for all Post members who served in World War II. The Post has 97 veterans of World War II. Mannuel Paxton made a motion for each World War II post member to receive a certificate. The motion was seconded by Craig Curnutt. The motion carried. ***

March 17, 2004 (Cmdr. Norm Brosi and Adj. Terry Beasley) --- Commander Brosi provided an Honorable mention to Marilyn Paxton and the Auxiliary for inviting the Post to the Legion’s Annual Birthday Dinner. There was a superb guest speaker. The speaker gave an interesting talk on the 49th State American Flag. The speaker’s mother was the actual person to design that flag for the 49 states. This speaker even resides in Savannah. It was an excellent program. ***

April 7, 2004 (2nd Vice Cmdr. Craig Curnutt and Adj. Beasley) --- Boy’s State Nominations: John McLarney informed the group that the candidates for this year’s Boy’s State were chosen. They were: Kyle R. Hummer, Benjamin D. Clark, William Newhart, and Peter N. Nelson. --- Stan Stubblefield said there would be a car pool for anyone who wanted to attend the Capital Hill event to honor veterans. Jack Jackson is the ceremonial honoree veteran for the event. Dr. Mark Corsum a professor from Northwest Missouri State College will also be a special guest there. The State Legislature will recognize the 26 Missourians who have been killed in the Iraqi Freedom Campaign. ***

April 21, 2004 (Cmdr. Norm Brosi and Adj. Terry Beasley) --- Dignity Memorial- May 6th is a meeting in Saint Joseph for the Dignity Memorial. Mike Feurt invited the Commander and Adjutant to the event. Services Corporation of America is organizing nationwide will conduct the meeting. Meierhoffer’s of Saint Joseph point of contact. Dignity Memorial pays for the burial of indigent veterans. Mike Feurt will be one of the chairmen locally. County Coroners, Medical Examiners, VFW, Salvation Army and other military veteran organizations are encouraged to attend. --- Legionnaire Mike Feurt reported that the Salvation Army is having a 2-3 day stand down in the Saint Joseph area. The event will probably be in September. The Veteran’s Administration will probably be involved. The stand down will target semi-indigent veterans, and be similar to the Super Market event that was recently held at the Armory in Saint Joseph. --- Andrew County Fair/Old Fashion Days will be June 26th. Post 287 will provide the color guard. The parade will start at 1st & Main, and go to the Park. Volunteers include: Bill Kretzer, Craig Curnutt, Stan Stubblefield, Norm Brosi, Mannuel Paxton, and Brian Stackhouse. --- Commander Brosi thanked all those who participated in another successful County Government Day. Member included: Bob Dunn, Brian Stackhouse, Keith K. Stanton, Ray Maxwell, Mannuel Paxton, Joe Napier, Edner Rudolph, Bill Kretzer, Chuck Ward, Covel Miller, Jim Crawford, Reid Ordnung, Herb Clizer, Ralph Bliley, and Jerome Goolsby. --- Commander Brosi had cards of appreciation for the membership to sign in support of the deployed members of Dean Gilmore and Jacob Sherlock. Both Air Guard members are assigned to the Army as transport drivers in a very dangerous part of the Iraqi Freedom campaign. ***
