January 3, 2001 (1st Vice Cmdr. Kretzer and Adj. Norm Brosi) --- 1st Vice Commander Kretzer briefed that 55 people have pledged to purchase bricks for the Flanders Field Memorial sidewalk. Billy will proceed to order the 55 bricks. Glen Wells of Saint Joseph is donating “bull nose” tile to go around the sidewalk and will lay the bricks as a donation to the Post. ***

January 17, 2001 (Cmdr. Harold Brunner and Adj. Norman Brosi) --- Flag Pole Bands- Libby Green in Special Orders at Emblem Sales was able to obtain our missing bands from 1993, 1997, 1998, and 1999. ***

February 7, 2001 (Cmdr. Harold Brunner and Adj. Norman Brosi) --- Legionnaire Bob Van Hoozer made a motion to dedicate the extra Flanders Field stone for the POW-MIA’s of all wars. Motion carried. --- Legionnaire Stan Stubblefield received a request from Ron Crouch to add Clearance O. Finchum. According to his dates of service he is eligible to have his name posted on the WWII Honor Roll board at the Andrew County Courthouse. --- Legionnaire Billy Kretzer recommended a flowerbed representing the American Flag on the West Side of Flanders Field. It would be 12’ X 8’. Bob Stubblefield will donate the flowers. ***

February 14, 2001 (Cmdr. Harold Brunner and F.O. Terry Beasley) --- Flanders Field Memorial Sidewalk Extension. 1st shipment of donor bricks was ordered. This order included 35 donor bricks and 15 blanks. --- Ron Crouse will be invited to the April Steak Fry and will be recognized for his efforts on the World War II Memorial donation project. ***

March 21, 2001 (Cmdr. Harold Brunner and Adj. Norman Brosi) --- The current total for brick donations collected so far for the Flanders Field Memorial Brick project is $3,500.00. ***

April 4, 2001 (Cmdr. Harold Brunner and Legionnaire Phil Vogler) --- Finance Officer Terry Beasley reported the annual Race Track Payment of $20,512.30 was received. Another $650.00 was collected for the brick project. --- Missouri Boys State Chairperson John McLarney stated 4 young men and one alternatedwere submitted for Boys State. ***

May 2, 2001 (Cmdr. Harold Brunner and F.O. Terry Beasley) --- The American Red Cross reserved the building on June 22nd for a blood drive. --- Legionnaire Brian Stackhouse briefed the members on the plans for this year’s Memorial Day Ceremony: Welcome, Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem, Introduction of Guest Speaker, Guest Speaker, Music Presentation by the High School Band, Laying of the Wreath, Special Bag Pipe Music Presentation, Acknowledgement about the Memorial Walkway, Roll Call, Taps, and Retiring of the Colors. ***

May 16, 2001 (Cmdr. Harold Brunner and F.O. Terry Beasley) --- Bob Van Hoozer reported that the POW/MIA stone has been set at Flanders Field, and looks good. ***

June 6, 2001 (Cmdr. Harold Brunner and Adj. Norman Brosi) --- Commander Brunner appointed the following to an officer nominating committee: Bob Dunn (Chairman), John McLarney, Mannuel Paxton, Edner Rudolph, and Ken Rosenauer. The committee met and nominated the following as Post 287 Officers for the 2001-2002 year: Commander- Billy Kretzer, 1st Vice Commander- Steve Gabriel, 2nd Vice Commander- Phil Vogler, Adjutant- Norman Brosi, Finance Officer- Terry Beasley, Sergeant-at-Arms- Steve Hampton, Chaplain- John B. Miller, and Historian- Keith Stanton ***

June 20, 2001 (Cmdr. Harold Brunner and Adj. Norman Brosi) --- Legionnaire Stan Stubblefield was elected Judge Advocate at the last 4th District Meeting.

July 18, 2001 (1st Vice Cmdr. Kretzer and Adj. Norm Brosi) --- Finance Officer Terry Beasley reported: 3rd order of bricks was sent. Cost = $692.00. Twenty donor bricks and 540 blank bricks were ordered. KQTV contacted Post 287 to do a story on the sidewalk dedication. ***
