St. Mihiel Offensive. Occupation of Euvizon Sector. Killed in action in the Bantheville Woods during the Muese-Argoune drive on October 21, 1918. Age 28 years. American Legion Post 287 was named Dick Munkres Post 287 in his honor on October 15, 1920.
