Falldin Post members shook hands with Columbia Heights Mayor Gary Peterson after he proclaimed Saturday, Sept. 24 as Arthur and Leonard Falldin American Legion Post 555 Day. Bob Skogquist was the Post Commander and Sandy Arellano the Unit President. Arthur and Leonard Falldin American Legion Post 555 celebrated 65 years of dedicated service to veterans and the community on Sept. 24, 2011. The celebration was held at the National Guard Armory, 1025 Broadway St. N.E., Minneapolis. The program included a light lunch with music by the Roseville City Band and guest speakers.

The Falldin Post today is very much alive and active. The Post leads the 5th District Hospital Visitation at the Minneapolis VA on the first Sunday of each month. They also deliver school supplies and apples to seven elementary schools in Northeast Minneapolis and Columbia Heights in November during American Education Week. Falldin takes part in the Memorial Day program at Hillside Cemetery and does the placement of the wreath. They also participate in the Northeast parade in June. On Vetean's Day you will find Falldin at Applebees greeting the veterans as they arrive and thanking them for their service. The Post supports youth programs and sponsors students for Legionville and Boys State.

The Post currently has 152 members and meets at 7:00 pm the second Thursday of each month at Audubon Park facility at 29th Avenue N.E. and Buchanan Street N.E.
