The Falldin American Legion Post 555 turned over the first shovel of dirt in ground-breaking ceremonies Monday noon for the organization's new $65,000 hall and club rooms at Central Ave. and St.Anthony boulevard N.E. The project has been in the planning stages for three years and is expected to be completed in five months. The Post, which has a membership of 1,115, now headquarters at the IOOF hall, 22nd and Central.
On hand for the ceremonies Monday were Fifth District Commander John Corcoran, Fifth District Adjutant Ted Ames, and Mr.and Mrs. Falldin, parents of Arthur and Leonard who were killed in service and after whom the Post is named. They are surrounded by other Post and Auxiliary members. The building is being constructed by Otten Construction, Inc., 2929 West Broadway.
