The Kasson American Legion was chartered on August 10, 1920 making it the 333rd charter in MN. Though the exact history of how the Legion came to be called Adolph Oiseth has been lost, it is known that Gustav Adolph Oiseth, born in 1894, was the first Kasson resident killed in WWI.  He died in France in 1918, and is buried in the Maple Grove Cemetery.  Legion members initially held their meetings in the upstairs of the Leuthold’s Department Store.  The meetings were later moved to the basement of the present location in 1926.  At that time, the post office and a hair salon occupied the west side of the upstairs, and an insurance agency was on the east side.  In 1976, the Legion took over the entire building and moved the bar upstairs, maintaining the downstairs for parties.  The downstairs bar, which held fond memories for many, was removed late fall of 2018.  The downstairs area presently remains open for events like the monthly steak fry.
