The Post was founded on April 26, 1922. Sixteen men signed the application to establish the Post, and there were 77 charter members. The Post maintained a meeting hall and an active schedule of service and social activities through the 1950s. Financial constraints in the 1960s led to the sale of the meeting hall in 1972. Subsequently the Legion Post entered into a collaboration with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and shared the operating costs of their meeting hall until the VFW Post was disbanded in 2011. In recent years, with a membership of nearly 40, Post 133 has operated as a service post. We conduct ceremonies on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and other occasions; annually visit veterans in local assisted living and nursing facilities; and conduct occasional social events.
