Legionnaire Chris Cassidy takes his ID to space

Mar 28, 1983

U. S. Navy Commander, Astronaut, and Post 56 Legionnaire brought his ID card to the International Space Station in 1983.  He donated his ID card to the post with a certificate of authencitly and some pictures of his space experiance which included 166 days in orbit.

The Bardsley Brothers

The Bardsley Brothers

Theodore, (Heck) Bardsley is currently a member of Post 56, but during WWII; he and his 7 brothers served in WWII. Military historians verify that the Bardsley's were the highest number of family members to serve in the military at any one time. The brothers served a combined 338 months and earned 28 medals in total which includes two purple hearts.

In the late 1940's; they joined American Legion Post 156 in Waltham, Ma. This picture..

Military mural at post 56 painted by York High School Students

Students from York, Me. High School painted this mural to honor our military services. It ws dedicated on 28 May 2018. Students were later given "Letters of Appreciation" by the post. The project represents our commitment to our military, and involvement with the community.
