On March 14,1948, the 19th District meeting convened at Farmer City as guests of Joe Williams Post 55. An estimated 700 Legionnaires appeared in the city, with 542 reporting at roll call at the high school gym for the afternoon session. The guests were fed at the Knights of Pythias hall and later entertained at the club room by a seven act floor show from Chicago. Distinguished guests included Vern C. Gray, Assistant Department Adjutant; Lyle Snavely, Department Director of Organization; Harry Thomas, Department Assistant Sergeant-At-Arms; Ray Shotwell, 4th Division Commander; Geo. W. Miller, District Commander, Carol M. Chalk, District Senior Vice-Commander; and other district officers and committee chairmen and Charles Shaw, 17th District Commander.

By Weldon and Farmer City going 100% in membership DeWitt County was the first in the District to have all Posts at 100%.

Of 172 30-year pins given, seven were given to members of our post, namely – Edwin Eppstein, Marshal Collier, E. S. Wightman, Harlow Stensel, Duane Crum, G. W. Watson, and Wayne Herrick.
