The next meeting was held on December 30, 1919 and the new by-laws were adopted. The name "Sagebrush" was selected to be the name for the new American Legion Post. At this meeting, Nate Desky asked for permission to speak, and he presented a check for $60.00 that was a contribution of $1.00 for each member on that date. January 9, 1920, the following officers were elected: George McMullen, Commander; A. C. Phelps, Vice Commander; Lachlain McLean, Adjutant; Rex Turner, Finance Officer; Paul Lary, Sergeant of Arms; and Dr. E.D. George, Historian and Chaplain.
In March there were 115 members who were charged with the responsibility to fit the Legion into the needs of the Brush community. The first year of operation for the Post found many successes. Apicture show and dance were held, netting $600.00. Grave markers were purchased to place on the plots at Brush cemetery, honoring fallen servicemen from the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and the World War. Money was sent to the fund to..
