One of Salida’s own, Corporal Ray Lines, was honored as “Ray Lines Memorial Highway” was dedicated on Veterans Day 2020. Through the efforts of Colorado State Representative, Jim Wilson, getting a resolution passed in the State Legislature, and Chaffee County Commissioners, Greg Felt, Keith Baker, and Rusty Granzella, providing the funding, “The Ray Lines Memorial Highway” is now in place. The dedication ceremony was attended by Rep. Jim Wilson, Commissioners Felt, Baker, Granzella, American Legion State Commander Greg Jackson, District Commander Jim Dexter, Marine Corps League Commander Ron Carpenter and members of American Legion, Ray Lines Post 64. Post 64 Commander read a letter from Ray Lines’ Great Granddaughter, Danielle Lines, of Ft Worth Texas. (see below) He also presented Certificates of Appreciation to Rep. Wilson, Commissioners Felt, Baker and Granzella and making them Honorary Members of Ray Lines Post 64.
