By giving dances, benefit show, etc. the post raised money to buy shares of the building and loan stock with the view to build their own hut. In 1921 the present American Legion park was purchased by the post and given to the city on their agreement to keep it up and to retain the same name.

A plot of land for the American Legion was reserved, and in January 1928 they held the first meeting of meetings to come was held in the new building. Much of the work was donated by the Legion members, and the building was furnished with the help of the Auxiliary.

Legion members planed trees and shrubs.

Besides donating to the park upkeep, they sponsored the Boy Scouts, sons of the American Legion, put on Old Time Rodeos, the Annual Fish Fry of Isaac Walton League.

They repaired Toys for under-privileged Children, and help with Christmas parties for same.

The Legion donated to the Men's Student Loan Fun d, paid fines for juvenile delinquents who were veterans Children, and tried to help them to a better way of living.

The post has assisted several Veterans Children through school by paying for books and fees, purchased shoes for crippled children and eye glass where needed.
