Department Commander from Seward Post 5 created the 1st SAL Squadron in Alaska in Seward.  In 1982 the 1st Detachment Convention was held in Seward with the Detachment Commander Gordon Fox  Also in attendance was BG (Ret) Edna Weir from Seward Post 5.
