The Seward Post for many, many years met in a variety of places throughout town from the Fire Hall to the Oddfellows Hall and the post finally secured their first building as was announced in the Seward Daily Gateway on 22 March 1934:  The building was formerly a paint shop and eventually a bakery and now it housed the veterans in the town for meetings and entertainment.

LEGION POST MOVES TO NEW QUARTERS!

"Last night was the christening night for the Seward Post of the American Legion.  No Champaign bottles were cracked, only contentment that the post apparently at last found permanent quarters wherein to hold meetings, and once and awhile to enjoy the hospitality of flunkies in charge of the soup kitchen and always popular gold fish and horse meat.

Two doors down below the Seward Steam Laundry, where Ericson’s paint shop once held sway is now Legion Hut for local members."
