After a pad designed and built to dimensions furnished by the U.S. Army Depot, Post 99's new tank exhibit was delivered by U.S. Army transport on the evening of August 28th, 1996. Led by Police escort, the U.S. Army lowboy with tank aboard, was offloaded in late evening to prevent interference with Post operations. The U.S. Army transport departed Post 99 on August 29th, 1996. The U.S. Army tank remains in that position today, joined by the World War 1 German 245mm mortar, which was placed on a pad at the tank's right front. American Legion Post 99 is proud to display both of these weapons of war to remind everyone that many of our members fought in two world wars, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and now Afghanistan to protect our freedom and our way of life.
