Commander Larry Bever distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service to the Wisconsin American Legion as Commander of the Wilton American Legion Post 508, Wilton, Wisconsin from July 2003 to July 2013. Under his command, the Wilton American Legion provided $5,000 in scholarship monies to local high school students; $1,000 to area youth at the Rod & Gun Club’s annual event; and $1,000 to the Village of Wilton’s annual festival. Under his leadership, Post 508 extended 20 visits to patients at the Tomah Veterans Administration, providing fellowship, support and gratitude for their service. Further, Post 508 performed taps, color guard and firing squad details to over 100 Veterans’ funerals—many outside of our area of responsibility. Additionally, Post 508 garnered approximately $228,000 in profits from BBQs and Fish Fries during his tenure as commander. Lastly, Commander Bever contributed to and oversaw the planning and creation of the $110,000 Wilton Area Veterans’ Memorial, which recognizes 800+ Wilton area Veterans from the Civil War to present day. His ceaseless efforts and dedication to duty will leave a legacy at Post 508 and in this community.

Commander Jerome Von Haden assumed duties as Post Commander on July 1, 2013. Commander Jensen visited our Post and installed our new commander, as well as other new officers.
