While cleaning up computer records, found letters of the John Owen American Legion Post 287 sending in request for chapter to the American Legion. They were approved on October 15, 1920. Due to the Coronavirus lock down, everyone has been staying home. If all goes right, a celebration of the whole Community of Mattoon with the help of Mattoon Historical Society, the Labor Day weekend will be the celebration for all the holidays missed this year. With the discovery of these papers of Charter, the Post will be in the parade planned on Monday September 8th.
