After the post was organized, they purchased what is now called the Elmwood Auditorium. The WWI Veterans brought a brass plaque honoring the veterans of that war. Sometime, in the early 2000's, it was noticed that the plaque was gone. The members of the post had figured that it was sold for the brass in it. Several years later, t wo young men were exploring a cave near their home, and came upon this plaque. They with their father went to see a Legion member, Merlin Place, about what they had found. Of course, Merlin knew what it was and at the next, meeting he had the two carry in the plaque. You could have heard a pin drop in the room and the sound of jaws hitting the floor. The boys were given an reward, the plaque cleaned and placed on the inside of the building, with very little chance of it being taken again.
