Post 106 Doing Business the Legion Way.

Resolutions are the way The American Legion does business. All policies, positions and actions of our organization are driven by the passage of resolutions, which control such policies, positions and actions in a direct way. Resolutions provide guidance to our organization. At its March regular monthly meeting over 40 member of Post 106 passed a historic resolution. The resolution was a proposal to update the Department of Wisconsin American Legion History from 1992 thru 2019.

At the 71st Department Convention in Appleton, Wisconsin the DEC provided the green light to establish a committee and commission the writing of a history of the Department American Legion history. That history is recorded in the book; THE WISCONSIN AMERICAN LEGION A HISTORY 1919-1992 by George E. Sweet author/historian.

The members of Post 106 agreed unanimously at the March 26, 2018 meeting that the Departments history didn’t end there. As a result they passed a resolution requesting the Department Executive Committee to establish a committee to undertake the project of a history update through the 2019 centennial year.

The resolving clause follows:

RESOLVED; That the Department Executive Committee shall hereby commission a committee with the responsibility of recommending a format and an author /historian to update the earlier history; be it further

RESOLVED; That the Department Executive Committee establish a budget over the next three years to pay for the undertaking of a Department History update through our 100th anniversary year.

The resolution was then submitted for consideration at the Department Spring Meetings.
