The annual state golf scramble of The American Legion Family of Wisconsin was held at Crystal Springs Golf Course, Seymour, WI. A beautiful day of sunshine and temperatures in the high 60’s and breaking the 70’s before the end of the day. Teams from every part of the state participated in a 10:00am shotgun start and over eighty American Legion Family members participated in a lunch of hamburgers and bratwurst, soda, chips and cookies.
Competition was intense as perennial champions from Post 487 from Cable, WI attempted to hold off the Team from Neilsville Post 73 that was determined to get their name back on the trophy. Neilsville who brought along their luck charm (see photo) was able to ward off the “Cable Guys” posting a team score of 65 for the 18 hole total. Cable then had to deal with an up-start Team from host Post 106 that tied them with a score of 67 for second place
Neilsville Post 73 was led by team captain DeWayne Seelow and team members Brad Linder, Nathan Berg and James Skroch. Post 73’s team picture will go on the traveling trophy. Before the sun set plans were already in place to dethrone the champs next year as Sommers Post 552 hosts the event. The Cable guy’s team traveled 400 miles to be here in Seymour. Some serious conversations will have to be held this winter about the trip to Sommers. I am betting they will be there.
For those not golfing a special open house was held at the Seymour Community Museum, which received great reviews from those attending. Krause-Kraft-Mueller Post 106 thanks everyone who participated in the event and those that helped make it a success Remember Sommer’s Post 552 in 2018 and Marshfield Post 54 in 2019. Always the second Saturday in September, put it on your calendars.
