Krause-Kraft Post 106 Seymour, Wisconsin at its regular monthly meeting on Monday October 24, 2016, officially accepted the slate of officers for its newly formed Sons of The American Legion, SAL Squadron 106. Allen J. Watry, Detachment of Wisconsin Sons of The American Legion Vice Commander addressed Legion members at our October 24, 2016 regular monthly meeting. He thanked Post 106 for their efforts to make a SAL squadron a reality in Seymour. He went on to say; “The Sons of The American Legion, founded in 1932, exists to honor the service and sacrifice of Legionnaires. Members of The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and Sons of The American Legion comprise the Legion Family, which has a combined membership of nearly 4.2 million”. He went on to tell about how he was eligible for the SAL through the membership of his father a Legion member. He told Legion members who had a parent as a legionnaire that they too are eligible for dual membership. He told how since 1988 the SAL had raised more than $5.8 million for The American Legion Child Welfare Foundation, and that the members have volunteered over 500,000 hours at veteran’s hospitals and raised over $1,000,000 for VA hospitals and homes. Members were impressed at their work on behalf of veterans. After an opportunity for questions and answers he closed with the thought that the “The SAL could be a big part of Post 106’s involvement in the community and that we should invite them to be a part of those programs and special events where they could make a difference. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with this newest member to our Legion Family. The officers are John Berg Commander, Bradley Blazek Adjutant, Steve Carpenter Squadron Supervisor, Luke Blazek Chaplain, Adam Smith Sergeant at Arms, and Joe Klarner Finance Officer. The person who was the real organizer and did all the groundwork for the Squadron is Steve Carpenter.
