Seymour Post 106 sponsored five high school juniors from Seymour Community High School. They were the largest group ever sponsored by the Post. All honor students, they were selected for their academics and leadership potential. They were Seth Jefson, Jered Swenson, Ian Hanseter, Jerad Anderson and Nicholas Famaree. In addition two Post members served on the 2015 staff. They were Russ Hanseter Chairman of the Board and member of the Supply Department and John Cumicek the Postmaster and Banker. In addition Post Commander Dick DeBuhr and First Vice Commander Greg Goetz attended the Thursday Inaugural and the Friday night Veteran's Tribute. The 74th session of the American Legion Badger Boys State ran from June 13-20, 2015 and was the 72nd on the campus of Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin. There were over 1400 delegates and guests in attendance at the Thursday and Friday night session. The sessions were live streamed and available to parents and friends back home.
In a letter to the Post some of the remarks were; "Thank you for changing my life". Another wrote "It is a blast and we are only half way through the week":. Still another; "I ran and was elected to the County Board as a supervisor, worked the elections for city, county, and state, and had time to participate in sports". The boys will be invited to our Veteran's Day Dinner and give a report.
Since the boys reported to the Post about their experience and the impact of the program they are finishing up their senior year of high school, I would like to report what their plans are after graduation starting on the left he will attend U.W. Milwaukee, next will attend the U.S. Naval Academy, next the U.W. Madison majoring in Biochemistry, the next two will be entering the U. S. Marine Corp, all of them are Honor Roll students. Post 106 is proud of their accomplishments.
