Chaplain Otis Chapman and Unit President Karen Grundler conducted a Four Chaplains Memorial Program.
Service Officer Rose Hodgeboom and Commander Gary Walker gave presentation on VA changes and updates. They spoke on work at Hub
Committee Reports
· Adjutant Larry Granish reported that the post is currently at 218 members for its goal of 213, 102.35%. Application for membership of Dave Horwitz, Air Force, Vietnam, received. Motion made, seconded and approved to accept his membership application.
· Finance, Adjutant Granish presented finance report. Balance through January 31 is $2,101.94. Evergreen Boys State balance is $338.68. Finance Officer Vargas has submitted a proposed budget. Copies are available in the back. He will formally present it at our next meeting.
· Service Officer Rose Hodgeboom reported that she has processed more than 35 claims. Between Gary Walker, Len Tobin and her, some 70-80 claims have been processed through the Hub.
· Judge Advocate, Dave Hodgeboom, reported on the Veterans Legislative Coalition meeting and he number of bills affecting veterans and family members being considered by the state legislature during the current sixty day session.
· Auxiliary President Karen Grundler reported
o The next District luncheon will be on March 7 at Rochester.
o There will be an Arts and Events, March 7, at St Martin’s University Worthington Center and Marcus Pavilion.
o North Thurston School District will host a College and Career night, March 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at River Ridge High School. She is asking for three or four volunteers to help her man a table.
o She has contacted Safeway at Pacific and Carpenter and we are scheduled to present poppies there May 15, 16 and 17. There will be a sign-up sheet at our March meeting.
Business and Correspondence
· Letter from Congressman Denny Heck was read and given to Historian Len Tobin. The letter was with valentines’ cards that were created by local students. The cards are in the back and will be take to the Hub on Monday.
· Letter from Department Assistant Adjutant Ken Christian announcing the resignation of District Commander Kevin Robinson. It notified posts that District Vice Commander Gary Walker has assumed the position of Commander in accordance with Department by-laws. It announced that there is now a vacancy in the position of District Vice Commander and asked that post submit resolutions for candidates to complete the term. Election will be at the Spring Conference.
Good of the Legion:
· Commander Walker read a New York Times article concerning clean up after a B-52 carrying four nuclear devises crashed in Spain and the effects on the health of those involved. The VA does not currently recognize those involved as having a military related disability.
· AIM Academy Introduction Mission is a USCG Academy program that is directed to high school juniors who may have interest in attending the Academy.
· Spring Conference will be at Post 2 on Friday, April 3.
· Alternate National Executive Committee Member, Dave Hodgeboom reported that there will be a memorial for long time Legionnaire Dick Hazelmeyer in Spokane tomorrow.
· Commander Walker announced that we have a post white polo available for purchase. Cost is $49.95. Contact him if you would like one.
· District Scout Executive Andrew Garate reported that Troop 1208 is conducting a recruitment campaign.
· Teresa Goen discussed the plans for the Memorial Day Ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery.

There being no further business, Commander Walker closed the meeting at 8:45 pm.
