Guests were introduced by Sergeant-at-Arms, pt, Len Tobin. List is attached.

 

 

 

Charter draped in memory of Bobby D. Smith, Army, Korea. Commander read a poem “A Veteran Died Today”.

 

 

 

Auxiliary Unit President, Karen Grundler reported that the Unit will receive an award of $100 from National for achieving goal by November 11. She proposed that the proceeds from Poppy Fund be donated $75 each to the American Lake Clothing Closet and the Domiciliary.

 

 

 

Chris Clements, Operations Manager at Olympic Ambulance and team members Cassity and Pat were introduced and conducted AED/CPE training for members, guests and Scouts of Troop 1208. Over 20 received their 2-year certification. Commander Walker presented each with a Legion coin.

 

 

 

Troop 1208 conducted a Court of Honor for Wyatt Faust’s advancement to First Class and receipt of multiple merit badges. District Executive (and Post Member) Andrew Garate assisted

 

 

 

Committee Reports

 

 

 

·       Adjutant Granish reported that membership currently stands at 186 for goal of 222, 83.78% of goal. Charles (Grumpy) Rommel requested transfer from Post 3 and Clive Griffy applied for membership. Motion made, seconded and approved that they be accepted for membership.

 

 

 

Business and Correspondence

 

 

 

·       Motion, made, seconded and passed to change the Preamble in our by-laws to reflect action taken at the Fall National Executive Committee Meeting. The phrase “Great Wars” is superseded by the phrase “all wars”.

 

·       Commander Walker escorted from room and 1st Vice Commander Eric Strom assumed the gavel. Resolution read nominating and endorsing Gary Walker for the position of 4th District Commander for the 2020-2021 Legion Year. Resolution was unanimously endorsed by the membership. Commander resumed his station.

 

·       Thank you card from Past Department Commander Gary Roach was read thanking the post members for our support during his two years as Department Commander.

 

·       Judge Advocate Dave Hodgeboom explained the history on dues and that the Post raised them only $5 when Department and National per-capita was raised $10 several years ago. Due to increased expenses, he moved that dues be raised $5 to the amount of $55 effective with the 2021 Legion Dues. Our by-laws require this motion be laid before the membership and that the vote to approve or disapprove it be held at the next regular meeting which will be on January 10, 2020.

 

 

 

Good of the Legion:

 

 

 

            The Commander wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and welcomed our new members and asked for their help and comments to improve our Post.
