Minutes of March 8, 2019 meeting approved as posted on website.

 

 

 

Sergeant-at-Arms, Kevin Lindsey introduced visitors, guests and prospective members, including Scouter Larry Sheppard and Post 110 member Jim Layton.

 

 

 

Larry Sheppard escorted forward and presented a weapons safety class. He also explained the provisions of Resolution 1639.

 

 

 

Committee Reports

 

 

 

·       Adjutant Granish reported that membership is currently 182 of goal of 213, 85.45%. Motion made, seconded and passed to accept transfer of Jim Layton from Post 110.

 

·       Finance report, Adjutant gave finance report for March. He reported that the recent water line break and cost to find and repair it had a substantial impact on our finances..Balance as of March 31 is $1, 381.81 and Evergreen Boys State is currently at $444.34.

 

·       1st Vice Commander, Bob Nakamura reported that he is working with the ESC and will be a judge at the Special Olympics aquatics.

 

·       Service Officer. Commander Walker reported that they are busy at the Lacey Veterans Hub. He stated that Len Tobin is also helping with claims.

 

·       Nominating Committee, second reading of nominees for the 2019-2020 year is as follows. Final reading and elections will be at the May 10 meeting.

·       Evergreen Boys/Girls State. Karen Grundler reported that they now have three girls and one boy from Timberline High School. Gary and Karen will be on interview panel, April 30, starting at 5:15. If you are interested, please help with the interviews. These young people are our future.

 

·       Commander Walker reported that the firefighter/police officer/EMT nominations have been forwarded to Department.

 

·       Auxiliary Unit President, Karen Grundler, reported that we will present poppies at the Safeway at Carpenter and Pacific on May 17-19, She has a sign-up sheet. We will be hosting the Evergreen Girls State orientation on May 19. The unit has funds for one girl. Corky Cunningham will sponsor a girl.

 

 

 

Business and Correspondence

 

 

 

·       Adjutant Granish reported that our by-laws have been reviewed by the Department and approved.

 

·       Resolution nominating Dave Hodgeboom for the position of Alternate National Executive Committeeman for the 2019-2021 term, was read and unanimously approved by acclaimation.

 

·       Resolution encouraging support of National Security was read and approved.

 

 

 

Good of the Legion:

 

 

 

·       Commander reported that the Post will be hosting the National Commander for a dinner on June 26.

 

·       We will have a post clean up/work party on Saturday, June 8, beginning at 9:00 am.

 

·       We are participating in Home Depot veteran build projects on April 19 and 23.

 

·       Upcoming Memorial Day events:

 

o   May 25, 8:30, placing flags at Woodlawn and Forest Cemeteries

 

o   May 26, 1:00, Waterside ceremony at Perceval Landing

 

o   May 27, 11:00 Ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda

 

o   May 27, 2:00, meet at post to load chairs

 

o   May 27, 4:00, ceremony at Woodlawn

 

·       Lacey Joggernauts will be conducting a Memorial Weekend Poppy 5km walk/run on Saturday, May 25.
