Commander Walker opened the meeting at 7:30 pm

Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Lindsey introduced Leonard Tobin and Stephanie Ramirez. Sign-in list attached.
Thurston County Commissioner, Bud Blake, escorted forward. Bud gave of short bio of his 25 years in the Army. He spoke about veteran support by the county and support of the Lacey Veterans Hub. The County pays the lease on the building. Bud spoke on efforts to get state veterans funds to help with building renovation. Bud spoke about the County Veterans Advisory Board and how funding through it helps veterans in the County. Thurston County is a Purple Heart County.
Committee Reports
· Second Vice Commander, Larry Douglas, stated that we will have presentation from Santa’s Castle in November, Fisher House in December and the Scouts in January.
· Adjutant Granish reported that membership is currently 117 of goal of 213, 54.93%.
· Finance Officer Dave Hodgeboom reported balance is currently $3445.00 and Evergreen Boys State is currently at $216.34.
· Chaplain Otis Chapman reported that Bob Wilson’s daughter-in-law is in the hospital and that Donna Lowery is still has neurological issues.
· Service Officer Rose Hodgeboom thanked Scouts for their help during our Membership Night. She reported that she and Commander Walker see 4 or 5 vets each week for claims at the Hub. Motion made, seconded and passed that the post pay for printer ink for the VSO dedicated printer at the Hub.
· Scouting, The Venture Crew will be going deer hunting tomorrow and will again have an Elk Camp in November. One boy is working on his Eagle. Girls will be allowed in Scouting, USA, in February 2019. Girls will be in their own troop and able to earn same awards as boys.
· Auxiliary President Karen Grundler reported that the National President will be in the State October 27-30. She passed the Children and Youth Foundation pig for donations. She also spoke on the North Thurston College Night.
Business and Correspondence
· Jose Vargas spoke on the upcoming Veterans Day events at the Capitol. This is the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice that ended WWI and Washington DVA will take charge of the ceremony
· Commander Walker spoke of efforts to get Home Depot Foundation $5000 grant. He met will representative from Olympia Master Builder group and we will focus on replacing the single pane windows and gutters.
o Stand Down will be at the Olympia Armory on November 16. We will partner with the Thurston County Food Bank and Veterans Hub for food baskets.
o The Post will host Volunteer Service Officer training on November 16 and 17.
· Motion made seconded and passed to donate $50 to the Legion Band to help with expenses for their Christmas Concert and the Lacy Community Center.
· Motion made seconded and passed to donate $150 to the Auxiliary for both American Lake and Orting Soldiers Home Gift Shops.
· Motion made seconded and passed to donate $100 each to Lewis AER, McCord Chaplains fund and in gift cards to Camp Murray J9.
· Motion made seconded and passed to donate $100 each to Santa’s Castle and Madigan Fishers House.
Good of the Legion:
· This will be the 75th year for the American Lake Gift Shop. Set up at American Lake will be the Friday after Thanksgiving; the tea will be Monday at 12:30 pm. Shopping will be Monday afternoon, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Orting Gift Shop will be the next Monday and Tuesday.
There being no further business, Commander Walker closed the meeting at 8:30.
