Rose Hodgeboom introduced Jose Vargas, Coast Guard, retired. Jose joined the Army in 1981and served three years. He then joined the Coast Guard and served 29 years retiring as LtCdr. Motion made, seconded and approved to accept Jose as a member.
Rose conducted a Veterans’ Day program.
Commander reported that the skirting is finished around Corkie Cunningham’s fifth wheel. He thanked Otis Chapman for taking the lead on the project, and everyone who helped. He also thanked our volunteers who helped with the Turn Back the Clock run. Gary spoke about our hosting of the National Vice Commander for soup and sandwiches at the Lacey HUB. Reports:
Membership. Adjutant Larry Granish reported that membership is at 146/226, 64.6% of goal. Finance Officer Dave Hodgeboom reported general fund of $5,031.95 and Evergreen Boys State at $827.19. We cleared $153.38 from the 4th District Fall Conference. Complete report is attached.

Sickness and distress, Chaplain Otis Chapman reported that Corkie Cunningham is doing well. Sandy VanScoick is not doing well with lung issues. Service Officer Rose Hodgeboom reported that she filed one TFA and six claims. She also paid $25 for a veteran to take a placement exam. Motion made, seconded and passed to pay the per capita membership for veteran needing TFA assistance. Chaplain Gary Walker reported that Rose Hodgeboom is recovering after her surgery and is doing well. Walt Morgan is home and doing better. No change on Ed Perez and his family.
Business and Correspondence:
There are new requirements for TFA. Applicant now must be a Legion member and the amount available is now $1500. Motion made seconded and passed to allow the Finance Officer purchase an LED projector from State Surplus for no more that $150.
Good of the Legion: o Veterans Day events The Auburn Veterans Day Parade will be Saturday. Capitol Veterans Day Ceremony starts at 11:00 am and. The Legion Band will begin playing at 10:30 am. Post 2 will host an SOS breakfast. Post 138 will host a spaghetti feed. Luck Eagle will host a free dinner for Vets starting at 5:00 pm. o American Lake Gift Shop will be November 27-29 and Orting on December 4-6. o Chaplain Brewer, from Camp Murray, is scheduled for our December meeting and will present a class on suicide prevention.
There being no further business, Commander Walker the meeting was closed at 8:45.
