Minutes of June 9, 2017 meeting read and approved.

Sergeant-at-Arms, pt, Rose Hodgeboom introduced guests. Roster of attendees is attached.

Peter Bickford escorted forward and updated the membership on Boy Scout Troop and Crew 208 activities. Troop has had three Eagle Scouts over the past year. The troop is always looking for service projects and fund raising opportunities. Commander Walker thanked the troop for their help at the Capitol Rotunda on Memorial Day and at the Waterside ceremony.

Reports:

• Membership. Adjutant Larry Granish reported that membership is at 103. We haven’t received our goal yet but expect it will increase from last year’s goal of 219.
• Second Vice-Commander, Larry Douglas reported on speakers for upcoming meetings. They will include the Civil Air Patrol, USO and Chaplain Brewer from Camp Murray on suicide prevention.
• Sickness and distress, Ed Lopez’ daughter in now in remission and Donna Lowery is facing neurological problems.
• Service Officer Rose Hodgeboom reported that she has processed 14 claims and 3 have been accepted. She requested $50 expense reimbursement. Motion made, seconded and passed to reimburse expenses. Rose gave an update on the HUB—it’s taking off on claims. The HUB is working on forming a women’s peer group. Alicia Johnson is leading that effort.
• Chaplain Gary Walker reported that Rose Hodgeboom is recovering after her surgery and is doing well. Walt Morgan is home and doing better. No change on Ed Perez and his family.

Business and Correspondence:

• Siding on Corky’s fifth wheeler is partially complete. We hope to be able to finish it before the weather turns. Otis Chapman will organize work party.
• Border adjustment survey has been resubmitted with changes to the county.
• Post cleanup will be August 26 starting at 9:00 am.
• District Commander Frank Sterling has asked that we host a roundtable on Friday, September 22 and the Fall Conference on Friday, October 20. Motion made, seconded and passed to host the roundtable and Fall Conference.
• Motion made, seconded and passed to get bids on coating the pavilion roof. Commander appointed Dave Hodgeboom to gather the bids and report at the October meeting.
• Resolution read and approved unanimously, nominating Rose Hodgeboom as Department Commander for the 2018-1019 Legion Year.

Good of the Legion:
• Dave Hodgeboom reported that 4 members will be going to National Convention in Reno. Besides him, Larry Granish, Rose Hodgeboom and Gary Walker will attend.
• The Post resolution on Atomic Veterans was approved at Department Convention and has been forwarded to National for adoption.
• Rose Hodgeboom reported that our annual membership steak night will be on Friday, September 8. Cost will be $15. District Commander Frank Sterling and Patty Sterling have volunteered to help out.

There being no further business, Commander Walker the meeting was closed at 8:40.
