Post Namesake

John V. Folsom  -  a local soldier who served during WWI.  While serving in Company L, 361st Infantry, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for "extraordinary heroism".  Private Folsom was KIA on October 10, 1918 and buried beside his comrades-in-arms at Romagne, France.  We Honor his distinguished service to our country.

Notable Members

James "Chick" Robeson   -  a member of the marine squad that first reached the summit of Mt. Surabachi on Iwo Jima and raised the first american flag.  "Chick" refused to be in the flag raising photos saying he "was not a Hollywood Marine."  See referrences to "Chick" in the book "Flags of Our Fathers".

Phillip Skok Sr.  -  WWII bomber pilot - flew 50 successful Bombing missions in the European Theatre.  Upon his discharge from the Army Air Corp, Phil never flew in another airplane for the rest of his life (over 50 years).

Gary Roach  -  current Department of Washington Commander, Boys State Counselor and previopus holder of numerous Post 54 offices.
