The first charter for Post #19 was issued on July 13, 1919 to sixteen World War I veterans. They met in the fire hall assembly hall. It was built in 1918. We met in this hall for two and a half to three years. The post was discontinued for three or four years and a new charter was issued in April of 1928 with a membership of thirty veterans. The fire hall was moved in three pieces and placed on a basement that was built by the members. This was the start of our permanent home at 55 Williams Street. We had quite a piece of property there. We bought off a member for less than a thousand dollars. Joe Wood was his name. We worked hard on this hall remodeling and changing things around. Over the years we used it for rental property as it had a beautiful dance floor.

In the year 2000 the hall became too expensive and too much work for the members to maintain. The property value was going up and our members decided to sell. We had an offer for $400,000 and up and we decided to see the hall to Centex homes for $900,000 on August 7, 2001. We then went ahead and bought property at 3224 N.E. 12th Street for $285,000 in April with a closing date of October 12, 2001. There was enough land for parking and with a lot of remodeling and painting was made into a very nice hall.
