Since 1990, Post 41 has leased the Legion Building to Dollar General Corporation as retail space. The current lease was scheduled to expire on January 31, 2016. The Executive Committee has reached an agreement with Dollar General to extend the lease for three years at $3,150 per month. Dollar General will continue to pay real estate taxes, insurance and utilities, and internal maintenance costs under $300. The contract also includes two three-year lease options at 8 percent rent increase for each option. This insures that we will have our rental income until January 31, 2019 and hopefully until January 31, 2025. The Dollar General Store not only benefits our Post, but also our community. The commercial rental income funds almost all of our Post activities and programs.
