1LT Christopher Liggett, a member of Post 41, is currently deployed with the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan. He is scheduled to return home by Thanksgiving.

The members of Post 41 recently shipped him a care package that included his favorite snacks and foods. We also included a card thanking him for his service, sacrifice and patriotism. The card was signed by Post members at the Legion meeting.

Christopher is a 2008 graduate of Clarke County High School and a 2012 graduate of the United States Military Academy. He was one of Post 41′s 2007 delegates to American Legion Boys State. He is the son of Legionnaires Chris and Nancy Liggett.

We recently received this gracious thank you email from Christopher.

To the members of Post 41,

Thank you so much from 1st Platoon, Cobra Company, 1-502nd Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)! We are here at Forward Operating Base Wright in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. It is always great to receive a care package, especially from other military families who understand what we are doing over here.

I showed your nice card to all 30 of the soldiers in the platoon and I explained to them how much Post 41 has supported me in the past. You guys helped me with Boys State, you were there at my high school graduation, and you have followed me through West Point, Ranger school, and now you support me in Afghanistan. I cannot express how great it is to have such a wonderful and thoughtful community in Berryville!

Thank you so much for your care package, I shared some of it with the platoon, I promise. I hope everyone is healthy and enjoying the summer back home. We have been here since February and we should be coming home before Thanksgiving! Hopefully I’ll have the chance to drink a beer with some of you in the Fall. Everyone here is doing well and we will do our best to keep safe.

See you soon and thank you again!
