Lloyd Williams Post 41 of The American Legion has the best newsletter of any small American Legion post in the country. That’s the word from the National American Legion Press Association, which held a Media Contest for all American Legion posts nationwide.

The entries were judged by the English Department of the University of Nebraska this year, and, for the first time, social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter were also judged in separate categories for large, medium and small posts. The association’s executive director, Mike Duggan, said 70 entries were received for the newsletter contest and most were in the small post category, posts with fewer than 200 members.

Post 41’s award was announced at the American Legion’s National Convention last month in Houston. The post also carried off the award for best Facebook page of any small post. Post 41’s eight-page newsletter also took first place in its division at the state level this year. Commander Mike Linster presented the award to Editor Bob Ferrebee at the Post's annual picnic.
