The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Clarke County High School was conducted by the students and staff of the school. Several hundred people attended the ceremony and toured the new school immediately after the ceremony. The new high school is modern, open and spacious and should serve the students of Clarke County for many years.

Post 41 and our fellow veterans of VFW Post 9760 donated all of the flags for the new school. These include U.S. and Virginia flags for the outside flag pole, U.S. and Virginia flags with flag poles for the auditorium, a U.S. flag for the gymnasium, and U.S. flags for every classroom. The cost of the flags was split between the two veterans’ organizations.

As part of the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, American Legion Post 41 Commander Bill Overbey and VFW Post 9760 Commander Bob Wagner presented and raised the U.S. flag on the flag pole at the front entrance to the school.
