Mrs. Warner from the school reported that the school children had selected by secret ballot two boys to go to Boys State. Letters were sent to local representatives voicing members’ objections to relocating McGuire Veterans Hospital to Richmond. Frances Karn received a Certificate of Merit for her work as Service Officer and Assistant Finance Officer. Comrade Housenflunk was named Legionnaire of the Year. Bingo was still being held at the Post. Awards were given for different accomplishments including Rocket Club. Dues were increased from six dollars per year to eight dollars a year. It was passed to purchase a beer machine for the club ($225). Beer was forty cents. Comrade Stanley Knoblock was still managing the club. The membership authorized the trustees to borrow $1,500 from the Bank of Westmoreland for the purpose of installing a new roof for the Post. Conducted a Post Everlasting Memorial Service. The ladies Auxiliary donated $300 toward retirement of the bank note and the note was now paid in full. The building was authorized to be used for the Shrine Club. A National Citation for Child Welfare activities was presented to the Post. Lt.Colonel John D. Ingraham, USMC recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross in Khe Sahn, Vietnam was the guest speaker at the annual Veterans Day Ceremony.
