
The Membership welcomed their first female veteran, Frances Karn in February. The photo was taken February 20, 1945 at the Trade Winds in Washington D.C. Frances Karn (center) was with two friends, Janie Jonas and Edna Snyder.
In 1946/47 the Post held basketball games twice a week during November to March at the school gym. The Post also held a washing machine raffle that netted $30. A brick fund drive netted $200.00 These receipts went to the building fund.
The Post helped needy families with Christmas food boxes, financial aid to families whose veterans were in the hospital, supported the Boy Scouts, & the Old Dominion Boys State Program,
In 1946 the Post purchased ten rifles from the Army Ordinance Department at $1.00 each. The Post also purchased Lot 50 from Mr. Blackistone for $1,500. The Post also participated in the “Keep Virginia Green” campaign. The Post also sponsored the Montross Post 252 and installed the Officers.
