Oregon Guardsman helps veterans find healing and connection through sailing

Michael Tieman, a member of the Oregon National Guard and American Legion Post 83 in Eugene, returned from a 2015 deployment to Afghanistan with a vision for recreational therapy through sailing. With a grant from the city of Eugene and the support of his American Legion Post, Tieman founded Guardian Sailing, where he teaches veterans to sail as a means of healing.
