Charles C. Davis, 96, of Prospect Hill Road, Walpole, died March 8, 2013, at his home. He was born in Walpole April 26, 1916, son of Arthur and Mary (Lane) Davis. He was a graduate of Walpole High School, he attended New England Conservatory of Music, earned a bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire, and in 1957 he earned a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts. advertisement Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 and detached service in the Office of Strategic Services from 1944 to 1946. Mr. Davis taught social studies at Berlin High School and Brattleboro High School, was principal at Orleans (Vt.) High School from 1957 to 1958, principal at Bellows Falls High School from 1958 to 1969, and was supervising principal of Bellows Falls Union High School from 1969 to 1981. He was a member of the Vermont Education Association, and was a member of the Vermont Headmasters Association. He was a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, where he also served on the board of directors. Mr. Davis also served on the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the Commission on Public Schools, was elected to the Headmasters Association in 1971 (National Honorary Association), and was a member of the Bellows Falls Rotary Club and the United Church of Christ in both Bellows Falls and Walpole.............................. Harry "Bud" Weiser, a resident of Westminster, Vt., died Oct. 17, 2003, while visiting at Kylemore Abbey in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland. He was born April 2, 1928 in Kane, Pa., the son of Adelaide M. and Harry L. Weiser. He graduated from Kane High School in Pennsylvania in 1946. He played outfield for the St. Louis Cardinals farm team in 1946. He joined the U.S. Air Force in the fall of 1946 and played baseball while stationed in Occupied Japan in 1947-1949. He received a bachelor of science in industrial arts from the University of Vermont in 1953. He received an master's in administration from Boston University. He also attended Fitchburg State College. He married Elsie Lievens in Hollis, on Aug. 22, 1953. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past summer. Mr. Weiser taught industrial arts at Fair Haven High School, in Fair Haven, Vt.; Nashua Jr. High School, North Middlesex Regional High School in Townahend, Mass., and served as department head of art, home economics and industrial arts. At Seekonk High School, Mass., he taught industrial arts and served as department head. He also was JV basketball coach at Nashua High School and North Middlesex Regional High School, and varsity basketball coach at Seekonk High School. He was principal at Lamoille Central Academy in Hyde Park, Vt., and principal at Whitcomb High School in Bethel, Vt. In June of 1969, he was one of 20 administrators selected to attend an eight-week National School Administrators Institute at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore. In September 1969, Mr. Weiser was principal at Bellows Falls High School, and from September 1971 he was administrative principal at Bellows Falls Union High School and served as athletic director for many years, He was meet director for many Vermont State Track and Field meets and hosted three New England Track meets at Bellows Falls. He retired in 1991. Mr. Weiser was a member of Rotary International since 1968. He was a member of BPOE 1619 and serve as treasurer for two years. He was a past member of the Board of Civil Authority in Westminster and served on the Westminster Village Historic Review Board. He attended Westminster First Congregational Church. He was an active committee member in the following educational organizations: VEA/NEA NH and MA Education Associations; and Vt., New Hampshire and Massachusetts Coaching Associations; Vt. Headmasters Association/Vt. Principal Association (VPA), from 1971 to 2003, and past president of the Council of New England Secondary School Principals Associations; National Association of Secondary School Principals; New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and a member of NASC and NASSCED. At the time of his death, Mr. Weiser was president of the Vermont Retired Teachers Association. He served as the past vice president of VRTA. He was also an AARP member. He worked for the VPA as activities director for the past 10 years. He spent 25 years as the Vermont representative to the New England Council and attended many New England contests in track and field, cross-country, tennis and golf. As part of his activities director job he was advisor to the Vermont State Student Council Association. He attended National Student Council conferences, and was appointed representative from Region 1 to the National Association, State Student Council Executive Directors for two years. Mr. Weiser retired on June 30, 2003. He was past president of the Windham Retired Teachers Association. He was active in the Youth for Justice Legal Education Committee, and which sponsored a yearly conference for schools grades 7-12. He also administrated the National Assessment of Educational Progress in Vt. school assessments for three different years. The surveys were generated by the Nations Report Card.
