Post #31 found themselves in a financial disaster June 2019. Lack of officers, loss of non profit status by the irs and inability to pay vendors, agencies and employees. The elections proved apathy with only 33 out of 650 members voting. No Commander, finance officer led the dissolution of efforts. The future seemed bleak at best for the post. in July, the adjutant resigned and the Sons of The American Legion leadership had mass. Past National Vice Commander Linda Perham transferred from Pierce Lawton Post #37, Bellows Falls and a revitalization project began.
The Sons of The American Legion returned and together with the Legion and Auxiliary began to rebuild the post, internally as well as, throughout the community. November 11, 2019 was the first official opening of a post that had been closed for months. They opened, faced every challenge with a deep resolve to make things happen. They were a true Legion family and inspirational to all that entered the post.
