Born in Rutland, graduated from Rutland HS and Rutland Business College.
43rd Division, US Army Infantry 9/24/1940-1/27/46. Captain stationed at Camp Edwards, Mass
Post Commander #31 elected 8/13/1946.
He took on renovations of the second floor of 11 Evelyn Street for Post Home.
He was the Chairman of the Red Cross Disaster Relief.

1949 He ran against A. Luke Crispe, a prominent lawyer in Brattleboro,VT and the law partner with Governor Gibson. Before half the convention voting was reported Alex conceded to Luke and offered his support for the future.
He was a member of the Rutland organizations of the Elks, Country Club, Former Grand Knight of the K of C, and President of the International Basketball officials.
He worked as the Rutland Daily Herald as the classified advertising manager.
He was a Justice of the Peace. Also the Chairman of the Rutland County Democratic Party for 10 years.
Elected in 1978 to the Vermont House of Representatives and served 16 years.
Chaired the House Institutions Comm.
He died of metastatic cancer in 1990 and is buried in the Calvary Cemetery.
