Thomas Jerome Gleason 

5/7/1897-8/10/67

Born in Middlebury, Vt. Worked for over 40 years for the Rutland Railroad.

 

Life member and Past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans 

 

 

Commander of the Rutland American Legion Post #31 1941-1942. Commander for the 1942 Department Convention held in Rutland.

 

1942 Heads up the scrapping of metal license plates at Post #31. All metal was collected at the Post and given to US government for war effort. 

 

Member of the Rutland Eagles and Elks organizations. 

 

WWI Navy veteran Enlisted 7/15/18- 12/13/18 2d class machinist mate.

 

Re joins the military with his brother in law Ernest Nichols

WWII Marine Corps veteran. Enlisted 12/3/42-1944. Staff Sergeant. 

 

1950 Began utilizing the radio station WSYB to discuss Poppy Day, Patriotic observances and events. Mrs. Gleason also uses the radio networking system. 

 

1950 becomes Secretary and Treasurer for  Post #31 Legion.
